On World Heart Day 2025, the HridayAmrit Foundation, in collaboration with partner institutions and organizations across India, conducted a series of impactful initiatives focused on cardiovascular health awareness, prevention, and emergency preparedness.
At Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College and Bharati Hospital, Pune, medical students and young doctors from the Heart to Heart Cardiology Interest Group organized an intensive awareness program. Patients and their families were not only educated on cardiovascular disease prevention but also received hands-on training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
The program combined practical demonstrations with motivational talks on adopting heart-healthy lifestyles. Speakers emphasized the importance of balanced diets, regular exercise, and effective stress management in reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease. The session, led by Dr. Amanpreet Singh Wasir, under the dynamic leadership of the current president, Abigail Saldanha, and guided by Dr. Ravi Kalra, Professor & Head of Cardiology at BVDUMC & Bharati Hospital, was supported by a dedicated team of medical students and young doctors. The enthusiastic response from patients highlighted the transformative potential of knowledge and empowerment in improving community health outcomes.
In Hubballi, the HridayAmrit Foundation partnered with the CSI State Chapter and Karnataka Medical College & Research Institute (KMCRI) to organize a spirited walkathon. Over one hundred participants, including medical students, doctors, and faculty members, marched from the college to the Gandhi Statue and back, undeterred by rain.
The event began with the symbolic release of red and white balloons, representing strength and hope. Faculty leaders, including Dr. Rajkumar Hiremath (Professor & Head), Dr. Umesh Bilagi, Dr. Suresh H, Dr. Nitinkumar Kadakol, Dr. Basavaraj Baligar, Dr. Prashant Kumar M, Dr. K F Kammar, and Dr. Sunil Gokhale, shared inspiring words that reinforced the importance of prevention as the cornerstone of cardiovascular health. Following the walk, participants gathered for breakfast and meaningful discussions, further strengthening the sense of community and shared purpose.
These initiatives were part of a broader series of sessions organized simultaneously across the country, representing a multi-fold effort to improve awareness about cardiovascular health. Through interactive education, training, expert discussions, and collaborative partnerships with NGOs, the HridayAmrit Foundation continues to build a unified movement for a heart-smart India.
World Heart Day 2025 was not just a symbolic occasion but a call to action—bringing together medical professionals, students, patients, and the public in the collective mission to reduce the burden of heart disease and empower individuals with life-saving knowledge and preventive strategies.
